In this group a community of women are invited to explore personal issues in a safe environment. Participants will receive support to explore challenges such as, overcoming isolation, coming through difficult transitions, lifting depression, reclaiming one's empowerment, regaining lost confidence, or pushing past feeling ‘stuck’.
Drama Therapy provides a way to discover inner strengths and connect with others through action. Drama therapy helps stimulate new creative and resourceful responses to real-life dilemmas. Drama therapy uses role-play, improvisation, playfulness, ritual, and other action methods. Participants are given the opportunity to process emotions, develop insight and experiment with new roles and ways of being. No acting or theatre experience is necessary.
About the facilitator: Andrea Thring is a drama therapist and has six years of experience facilitating groups. She has used theater as a tool for therapeutic and social change in Montreal, India, and Korea. Andrea Thring is a MA Candidate at the California Institute of Integral Studies (Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in Drama Therapy) and Marriage and Family Therapist trainee at the Living Arts Counseling Center.
