Playback Theatre is an interactive theatre form used in over 50 countries as a tool for community building, dialogue, conflict transformation and trauma recovery.
In a Playback Theatre performance, audience members share thoughts, feelings, memories and personal stories and watch as a team of actors transform these experiences into improvised theater pieces using movement, ritual, music and spoken word. Playback Theatre creates community and connection by honoring the dignity and universality present within all stories.
In this 1-day introductory workshop, participants will learn and practice the basic performance structures involved in the playback theatre process. Participants will also gain the opportunity to develop spontaneity, creativity, playfulness, empathy and skills of deep listening and teamwork. No prior acting experience is required.
