Barnett Hall is adjacent to Lakeshore Avenue Baptist Church (it's one of their buildings), 
and is just up the driveway next to the church--at the back of the driveway

 

Drama therapy uses acting, improvisation, theatre games and psychodrama as tools for personal growth and change. It is playful yet sparks insight. It promotes spontaneity, creativity and expressiveness. This workshop introduces participants to this powerful means for changing self-defeating patterns and practicing new roles and constructive behaviors. No previous theater experience is necessary. Shy people are welcome!



Andrea Thring, MA, is a drama therapist, psychodramatist, and has six years of experience facilitating groups. Her introduction to this work began with using theater as a tool for therapeutic and social change in Montreal, India, and Korea. Andrea has since worked with clients and populations diverse in age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status. She uses a unique blend of psychotherapy, psychodrama, drama therapy, and art therapy techniques in her sessions. Andrea Thring, holds an MA at the California Institute of Integral Studies in Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in Drama Therapy. She is a Marriage and Family Therapist intern (IMF registration number pending) at the Living Arts Counseling Center. Andrea holds a degree in Fine Arts with a specialization in Theater and Development at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. She is supervised by Armand Volkas MFT#28789.



Jennifer Stuckert, MA, Marriage & Family Therapist Intern (#64158), is a drama therapist, actor, and playwright. She has an MA in counseling psychology with a concentration in drama therapy from CIIS, and experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings, including: inpatient and outpatient programs for the recovery of chemical dependency and eating disorders, an inpatient psychiatric unit, elementary schools, and private practice. She is supervised by Armand Volkas, RDT, MFT (MFC#28789).

Please contact the facilitators if you're taking BART. Transportation is being arranged to and from the MacArthur BART station to Barnett Hall. Armand Volkas, Clinical Director of the Living Arts Counseling Center, will be picking people up in the parking lot in front of the BART station at 12:20 pm. Be sure to e-mail your cell phone number if you want to be picked up from BART.
