I work compassionately with individuals, children, couples and families. I specialize in using the creative arts, particularly drama therapy, to help clients gain a better self-understanding, and integrate difficult life experiences. No matter where you are, I believe that it is possible to imagine and then create the person you want to become.

My particular specialties include:

  • Helping children and families cope with school bullying. I work with bullied children, children who bully and families supporting a child in dealing with bullying. I help the child and family create coping strategies and address the underlying issues.
  • Self-identified geeks, nerds and dorks. It can be challenging to have unusual interests, and to feel like an outsider. I offer a unique perspective on the challenges faced by this community. Rather than making your interests and identity into the problem, I will use the metaphors of your imaginative life to work towards healing and integration.
  • Introverts, shy people, and people suffering from social anxiety. Introverts and shy people have a wonderful, unique perspective and fascinating inner lives. I help convert fears into strengths and bring these strengths to interaction with others.

  • Young adults in the process of “launching.” Starting college, or leaving college to start an adult life, are very difficult periods. I work on issues of loneliness, creating identity, seeking partnership and community, and creating an adult relationship with parents.
  • Couples who want to learn to play together. I specialize in applying the techniques of drama therapy to help couples have more fun together. I will help you work on issues around communication, sexuality and negotiating differing values. Our new understanding of interpersonal neurobiology tells us that the part of the brain that can play is also the part of the brain that is creative about solving problems. Through talk therapy and experiential exercises, I will help couples create a shared imaginative life.

I hold a Master's Degree from the California Institute of Integral Studies in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Drama Therapy. At CIIS, I focused on the impact of childhood trauma on adult functioning. I worked at the Homeless Children’s Network in San Francisco serving low-income children, parents and families. There, I ran groups for women affected by domestic violence, homeless teenagers and worked one-on-one with parents and children. I am skilled at working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
