What are the steps we need to take in order to rekindle our hope for resolution and co-existence? How can we remold our hurt, rage, grief and betrayal into a catalyst for peace? We invite 7 Palestinians and 7 Israelis to participate in a workshop where we explore what it means to be an emotional pioneer who helps pave the way for others to follow. We will use experiential exercises drawn from intercultural communication, drama therapy and expressive arts therapy and offer tools for transforming painful historical legacies into constructive action.

Amal Kouttab, MA is a creative arts therapist who received her graduate training in psychology and drama therapy at New York University. She has used various visual and performing arts mediums to facilitate therapeutic groups in mental health institutions, nursing homes, and drug rehabilitation centers in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area. Amal is a Palestinian-American, and an adopted daughter of a Palestinian diplomat who became a refugee in the 1948 war. Contact: (415) 871-6133.
