Andrea Thring, MFT Intern (IMF #66877)
Andrea Thring holds an MA from the California Institute of Integral Studies in Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in Drama Therapy, as well as a bachelor of Fine Arts with a specialization in Theatre and Development from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.
Before coming to San Francisco I worked extensively using theater as a therapeutic tool with women's groups in the U.S., Canada and India, adults with developmental disabilities, adolescents at risk, and projects aimed at bringing together different cultures and communities. I help people who struggle with depression and suicide, anxiety, identity challenges, relationship difficulties, role development, confusing transitions, and isolation. Having lived and worked with people from India, Pakistan, Haiti, Morocco, Korea, Japan, and French-Canada (Quebecois), I am sensitive to working cross-culturally.
I offer these types of therapeutic services at The Living Arts Counseling Center:
• Individual Psychotherapy
• Family Therapy
• Couples Therapy
• Play Therapy with Children
• Drama Therapy
• Expressive Arts Therapy
Creative arts therapies hold immense potential for healing. When combined with therapeutic tools, the possibilities for change are profound. I have facilitated people from different cultures, backgrounds, and communities and have helped each individual regain a sense of clarity and hope through the power of the arts. If you are looking to creatively explore relationship problems, family-related issues, difficult transitions or simply personal growth, I have the skills and compassion to support you.
